May 7, 2021

Gary Pavlus, C.E.M., is celebrating his 25-year anniversary with Damuth Trane this month. A referral from fellow associate Andy Blanchard, Gary originally joined Damuth Trane in 1996 as a Service Technician. He has since held several roles within the company as his knowledge and skills have increased, serving as Service Team Leader, Lead Service Technician, and most recently Systems Specialist before taking on his current role in 2018 as Intelligent Services Optimization Technician.

As an Optimization Technician, Gary is responsible for collaborating with internal and external clients to identify Energy Conservation Measures and building comfort issues as well as implement building automation system (BAS) optimization strategies for energy tune-ups, shared energy savings agreements and quoted energy service projects. Additionally, Gary reviews and validates that BAS programming changes in effect are meeting the client’s intended operational and energy saving goals. All of which involve deploying various software tools and energy meters to collect data and measure optimization efforts.

Gary joined Damuth Trane having had 8 years of service with the U.S. Navy and another decade in the HVAC industry. Along with this experience came a wealth of training, certifications, and industry education on a variety of equipment types and mechanics. In his first year at Damuth Trane, Gary was awarded “Technician of the Year” on behalf of his exemplary work on the jobsite and service to his clients. He has also previously been honored with Damuth Trane’s Bravo Zulu Award in recognition of going above and beyond in the line of duty.

“Gary has been a great asset to Damuth Trane for many years and most recently the Intelligent Services Team. He has a passion for solving the most complex challenges where BAS, mechanical and energy issues intersect. I’ve had numerous e-mails from clients over the years complimenting Gary on his knowledge, experience and commitment to excellence,” commented Roger Shull, Director of Energy Business Development; “He always puts his internal and external clients first. Gary is a great mentor and collaborator with others.”

Throughout the course of his 25 years with the company, Gary has continued pursuing professional development opportunities whenever presented and firmly believes that: “[i]f you stop learning, you’ll be left behind.” He is currently a Certified Energy Manager and member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) national and local chapters. Gary has also made a point of sharing his knowledge with others, having proctored many associate and client trainings on mechanical equipment and systems over the years.

Gary and his wife Lori have been married for over 40 years and live in Moyock, North Carolina. They have two adult children as well as three grandchildren. In his free time, Gary loves spending time outdoors going hunting, fishing, boating and visiting the beach nearby.  On his time with the company thus far, Gary expressed: “I’ve had a great working relationship with Damuth Trane. They always provide opportunities for you to grow and improve yourself. I also love the culture here and support I receive from fellow team members, all of which has made it a comfortable environment for me the past 25 years.”

Congratulations, Gary!
