November 17, 2020

U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia recently recognized Damuth Trane as one of the 675 recipients of the 2020 HIRE Vets Medallion Award. Damuth Trane earned the Platinum Award after applying earlier this year. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program that recognizes job creators who successfully recruit, hire, and retain veterans.

“We are proud to have earned the 2020 HIRE Vets Medallion Award from the U.S. Department of Labor. Damuth Trane has been dedicated to providing lasting careers for veterans since day one,” remarked Clint Damuth, President and General Manager; “Our company’s founder and my father, Don Damuth, was a veteran himself; serving in the U.S. Marine Corp before starting Damuth Trane. Now, over 50 years later, we are proud to say that over 20% of our associates are veterans of the U.S. Military.”

Damuth Trane, a Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Certified employer, joins 674 other companies from the United States who have shown a commitment to hiring veterans, but also ensuring that they have a long-term career and growth plan that uses the diverse skills they acquired through their military service. Participation in military and veteran career fairs, on-the-job training, and tuition reimbursement are just a few of the initiatives Damuth Trane has in place to recruit veterans and aid them in developing skills in a civilian career.

The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is based on several criteria, ranging from veteran hiring and retention to providing veteran-specific resources, leadership programming, dedicated human resources, and compensation and tuition assistance programs – with requirements varying for large, medium, and small employers.
