ASHRAE Hampton Roads Chapter Meeting

Mark Malagon, PE, will present, "What's that 'R' for in ASHRAE?"  This presentation will focus on the world of Industrial Refrigeration.  Most large scale industrial refrigeration systems utilize natural refrigerants, with ammonia and/or CO2 as the primary medium.  We’ll take a look at the similarities and differences between Industrial Refrigeration and conventional HVAC.  We’ll also explore the advantages (and disadvantages) of ammonia, and why it is the first choice for low temp applications typically found in the food and beverage industry.  Finally, this talk will dig into the regulatory issues effecting all of us each and every day.
