Damuth Trane honored with Platinum award from ABC-VA’s Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program

July 22, 2019

Damuth Trane was recently recognized as a Platinum Level recipient for 2018 at the annual ABC Hampton Roads STEP Awards. The Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) Program is used as a safety benchmarking and improvement tool and is sponsored by the National Association of Builders and Contractors, Inc. The honorees are ranked in tiers based on several different factors, including safety performance, incident rates, company safety initiatives (such as training programs), management commitment and associate involvement.

Previously at the Silver level, Damuth’s continued focus on safety has been reflected in a double increase to the Platinum level, which is the second highest ranking given. Only the top 33% of the companies who applied were recognized with Platinum & Diamond-Level awards. ABC STEP Members at the Platinum level are generally 300% safer than the industry average and typically reduce their Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) by 67%. *

The awards ceremony was held on July 18 at the Chesapeake Conference Center during the ABC-VA Hampton Roads Contractor Safety Forum. In attendance from Damuth Trane were Phil Damuth, Vice President, Elizabeth Barnette, Environmental Health & Safety Leader, and Clint Damuth, President (pictured left – right).
