Damuth Trane was excited to jump right into our annual weight loss challenge at the strike of New Year 2014.  During a 25 week period participants were encouraged to better their nutrition and exercise habits to reach their personal weight loss goal.  We had a total of 9 associates participate in this year’s challenge.

Each participant pledged $50, and set their weight loss goal; minimum 10lbs for ladies and minimum 20lbs for men.  If participants met their weight loss goal, they were able to share in the prize pool money, and if not, participants had to pay depending on how close they were to their goal.  On final weigh in day, July 25, 2014, no one reached 100% of their weight loss goal, but Jay Wargo came the closest, reaching 96% of his goal.  The total weight lost between all the participants was 66 pounds lost.

Damuth Trane donated $300 to get the prize pool started and in addition, donated $1 per pound lost by the group into the prize money.  Since no one reached 100% of their goal, we were able to donate the total prize pool amount of $697 to the Southeastern Virginia Food Bank!!

Damuth Trane hosted the 2nd Annual Bra-Ha-Ha Corn Hole Tournament on July 26, 2014, and was able to raise $3,144.39 to support the 2014 Bra-Ha-Ha!

The Bra-Ha-Ha is an event that supports all forms of breast health.  It helps to provide free mammograms for those who need it most.  The Bra-Ha-Ha alleviates financial barriers that prevent early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

The corn hole tournament was organized by the Bra-Ha-Ha Committee and was held at Big Woody’s Bar & Grill.  We had door prizes and a silent auction, all of which the items were donated by local businesses.  We also had other vendor reps in attendance from Premier Jewelry, Pampered Chef, and Scentsy. We created event t-shirts that were also for sale.

We had a Social and Competitive Division as well as a Singles Tournament.  There were cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in the Competitive and Social Divisions.  We had about 25 teams participate total.  It was a beautiful day and perfect for the tournament!

A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and players!  Be sure to check out all of the photos on our Facebook page!Fotor0807152028

Damuth Trane is a proud sponsor of the 8th Annual Surfers Healing 5K Run/Walk in Virginia Beach, VA on August 16th!   All proceeds will benefit the Surfers Healing VB and the Autism Society of Tidewater Virginia.

The 5K is a great family fun event.  Finisher Medals will be awarded to all finishers and trophies will be awarded to the top 3 overall.  Special awards will also be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group. So come out and join in the fun!

The Surfers Healing Surf Camp program was founded by Israel and Danielle Paskowitz. Their son, Isaiah, was diagnosed with autism at age three and they decided they wanted to share this unique therapy of surfing with those all around the world.  They began to host day camps at the beach where children with autism and their families could be exposed to a completely new experience of surfing and healing. This program seeks to enhance the lives of kids with special needs, especially those with autism.  This will be the 10th year that Virginia Beach has hosted the Surfers Healing Team.

Good luck to all those running in the 5K, and well wishes to all those participating in the camp!SurfersHealing_Logo_RGB3

The 29th Annual Conference on Education will be held on July 22, 2014 in the Grand Ballroom of the Richmond Marriott.  Attendees will have the opportunity to choose from over forty mini-workshops highlighting successful practices in Virginia’s school divisions. Topics will range from curriculum to school law, and technology to school safety.

One of Damuth Trane’s Account Executive’s, David Peffley, will be speaking at the Education Conference about solving the safety concern in Virginia’s public schools through access control systems.  Accessibility to school property must be managed so only authorized personnel and visitors are allowed to enter the buildings.  Access control systems are programmed to allow access for personnel during specified times.  Any attempt to enter by an unauthorized user would alert the system manager.  Access control provides the ability for school lock-down in the event of emergency.  Video cameras are strategically placed to monitor entry and departure activity at each door and movement within the building would minimize the risk of harm to the building’s occupants.

Finding a method to pay for essential facility improvements while budgets are being reduced continues to be a challenge for all Virginia’s public school systems. There is a State-approved funding mechanism and process in place that can be used to off-set the cost of facility improvement projects.  This funding can be used for safety infrastructure.  Local governments, including public school systems, can reduce operational costs through performance contracting.  Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) enables local governments to use future energy savings to pay for the up-front costs for facility upgrades, eliminating the need to use capital budgets. The savings reduce annual energy and water costs; eliminate costly ongoing maintenance items and reduce the need for future capital expenditures.  The savings are guaranteed to reduce risk and there is no up-front funding.  If you would like more information, give us a call today at 757-558-0200.vsba-logo-upd

CHHDamuth Trane is committed to maintaining a healthy workplace that fosters growth potential; both personally and professionally. Part of the personal growth for employees involves giving back to the community – both time and money.

One of our favorite ways of giving back is our “Blue Jeans for Charity on Fridays”. Each Friday employees can wear their jeans in return for a $5 donation to the chosen charity for that quarter. Employees submit their charity recommendation and if chosen, the charity receives the proceeds from the Friday collection for that quarter.

The second quarter charity of 2014 was Camp High Hopes. This organization was originally founded to provide a week long summer camp for boys ages 7-17 with hemophilia. Today the camp welcomes boys with any bleeding disorder for a fun and safe week away from home! Family camps as well as smaller group camps have been offered throughout the years as well. Camp High Hopes Inc. is a completely volunteer organization.

Damuth Trane was proud to be able to donate $860 towards this great cause. A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our “Blue Jean for Charity on Fridays” this quarter!
