Miriam DaSilva, Healthcare Account Representative for the Healthcare Team of Damuth Trane, recently was awarded the President’s Award for outstanding achievement at the 4th Annual Virginia Society of Healthcare Engineers (VSHE) Conference in Williamsburg, VA.

William Rockwell, VSHE President and Health System Engineer at University of Virginia Facilities Management, presented the award to DaSilva, VSHE’s Communications Chair, during the awards ceremony on Monday, May 20th at the Williamsburg Hotel & Conference Center.

“Receiving the award is such an honor; my contribution to the organization doesn’t feel like a responsibility because I truly enjoy doing it. I have learned so much professionally and grown so much personally because of my involvement with VSHE. The educational opportunities and exposure to such a diverse group of facility engineers really allowed me to understand the concerns and best practices of healthcare facilities industry,” commented DaSilva.

DaSilva’s has been involved in the three day VSHE annual conference since 2007. DaSilva was elected Registration Coordinator for this year’s conference. DaSilva helped manage the conference which registered over 400 attendees statewide.

In addition to a 60-booth tradeshow, the conference offered 19 speakers who presented 14 VSHE classes and 5 ASHE (American Society of Healthcare Engineers) certification classes such as Certified Healthcare Facility Manager Workshop and Certified Healthcare Constructor. New to the conference this year was an Infection Control During Construction seminar.

Due to the conference sponsors, including annual sponsor Damuth Trane, VSHE was able to offer the Healthcare Members waivers to attend with a minimal fee for certification classes.

VSHE 2014 Annual Conference and Golf Invitational will be held May 19-22 in Williamsburg, VA.
